FERRO wraps up its Social Media campaign - #FERROResults
Our Social Media Campaign, #FERROResults, has now concluded. Over the last few weeks, we have shared the science, innovations, and solutions behind FERRO to showcase the project’s work on improving lake restoration and management.
The insights from FERRO’s results and updates that have been highlighted include:

Lake Restoration Database, with which FERRO aims to tackle the issue of prioritising and classifying lakes for monitoring and restoration;

Lake and catchment assessment tool, focused on categorising and sequencing lakes for restoration based on their risk of eutrophication;

Dashboard for monitoring measure impact, aiming to combine on-site and satellite-based observations of water quality status before and after lake restoration;

Nutrient recycling methodologies using biotechnology, focused on improving the supervision and efficient use of extracted phosphorus;

Nutrient recovery protocols for lake inflows, striving to block the nutrients in lake inflows and convert them into a useful source for agriculture;

Sonar-based sediment analysis, identifying high levels of phosphorus and ammonium release;

Lake nutrient removal via solar pump system - a pumping system which is energy-neutral and solar-powered;
-
Lake nutrient removal via excavation of sediments, aiming to improve the current method for sediment removal by focusing on hotspot areas.
