FERRO was presented at the 15th European Conference on Ecological Restoration, between 24-28 August 2026 in Brest, France. Bringing together around 600 participants from the academic and research community, the conference provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, present innovative approaches to ecological restoration and connect with researchers and practitioners working across Europe and beyond.

FERRO was represented at a dedicated project table hosted by its scientific partner Pensoft Publishers, alongside other Horizon europe projects, the SpongeBoost project, BioAgora, EUFAWREADY, COOP4CBD, eLTER, and ForestPaths. Throughout the conference, participants had the opportunity to discover more about the projects, their objectives and their work towards developing innovative and sustainable solutions for ecosystem restoration.

New FERRO materials were presented: the FERRO factsheets, focusing on all five of the project's demonstration sites: Dröda Reservoir in Germany, Lake Fure and Lake Ormstrup in Denmark, Lake Mustijärv in Estonia, and Vrchlice Reservoir in the Czech Republic. The factsheets provide an accessible overview of the individual demonstration sites and the restoration approaches being explored by the project.

The FERRO policy brief was also showcased, together with additional project communication and dissemination materials. These resources helped introduce the project's work to a broad academic audience and provided participants with further information about FERRO's efforts to address eutrophication, support lake restoration and promote the recovery and reuse of nutrients.

Participation in the conference offered FERRO a valuable opportunity to strengthen its connections with the ecological restoration community, share the project's latest results and raise awareness of its innovative approaches to restoring European lakes.
