FERRO launches first Open Call Webinar with project updates and opportunities
The FERRO project held its first Open Call webinar on 11 September 2025, bringing together stakeholders, researchers and interested participants to learn more about the initiative and the opportunities for engagement. In total, 36 people attended the event.
The webinar was structured in two parts. The first part commenced with an introduction by Olga Tammeorg, who provided an overview of sustainable lake restoration and outlined how to advance it through the Mission Lakes initiatives, including the FERRO Project. Tallent Dadi, the coordinator of the FERRO Project, introduced the project's mission and its dedicated partners, which include the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), the University of Southern Denmark, the University of Helsinki, Brockmann Geomatics, Brockmann Consult GmbH, and the CAS Centre for Biology. The FERRO Team showcased innovative methods and tools for sustainable lake restoration that they are working on. These approaches encompass both in-catchment and in-lake restoration measures, alongside the recycling of nutrients removed for use as fertilizer. Additionally, remote sensing and sonar technologies are applied to enhance restoration efforts.
The second part of the webinar focused on the FERRO Open Call, providing detailed information on the process, eligibility criteria and expected outcomes. Further details about the Open Call are available on the dedicated section of the project website here.
For those who were unable to attend, or who would like to revisit the discussions, a video recording of the webinar can be accessed here.
